Battle of the Burgers with BBQ Essentials from HELLOFLAVOUR.CA & INFLUENSTER
I am a girl that is very into taste, I love big, bold, beautiful, luxurious layers of flavours so when I found out I was receiving this #BBQEssentials Box from Influenster and Helloflavour.ca I was ecstatic – bring on all the tasty goodness.
The items I was so lucky to receive complimentary (aka free) for testing purposes were:
• Spicy Montreal Steak Spice Seasoning
• Brown Sugar Bourbon Burger Mix
• Franks RedHot Original
• A coupon for one bottle of French’s Ketchup or Mustard
One of the items is an already much loved staple in my kitchen, the next was a new spicy twist on an old favourite and the most intriguing was an innovative burger mix I couldn’t wait to get into the meat and onto the grill. Clubhouse laGrille products always have a place in our kitchen – we simply don’t do without their Teriyaki 30 Minute Marinade because it is quick, easy and very tasty and we always have the original Montreal Steak Spice Seasoning on hand as it adds a burst of flavour to meat and vegetables. Keep reading for a breakdown of all the items received and some recipe reviews.
Spicy Montreal Steak Spice Seasoning
This spicy version of the Montreal Steak Spice Seasoning is a great twist on a classic. We tried the Spicy Burger Recipe from helloflavour.ca and it was absolutely delicious. The smell of this seasoning alone will win you over and the hit of heat will keep you wanting to add more. This spice is the perfect blend without all the additional work of pulling together various spices from your pantry. It was just the right amount of spice without being overpowering for all the palates in my house. As a family who loves flavour we did add a little Frank’s Red Hot into the mixture before forming the burgers. The burgers were juicy and very, very tasty. I definitely will also be trying this chicken, steak and even when my veggies could use a little extra kick.
Brown Sugar Bourbon Burger Mix
This mix in is described as “A distinctive blend of sweet brown sugar, bourbon, red bell pepper and spices for flavourful burgers.” It truly is a winning combination of savory and sweet. Using this product was practically effortless and the directions were wonderfully simple. Add the meat, add the mix in and cook. Even the most unlikely cooks would look like a culinary artist by presenting this to their guests. Once again, this was a great combination of flavour in one place without having to search your kitchen for multiple spices or marinades. Since I wanted to try this mix in the way nature and the company intended I opted for trying the aptly named: Brown Sugar Bourbon Burger Mix In Recipe. Right from opening the package the smell was mouthwatering, both sweet and spicy. Once cooked, the flavour was bold, full and delicious with enough sweetness to satisfy without being sickeningly sweet. The burgers were juicy and did not dry out. We paired ours with a fresh onion bun which added just a bit more savory to the sweetness. After trying this tasty beauty I did add the Sweet Mesquite Burger Mix to my cart at the grocery store which is touted as a “sweet and smoky blend of tomato, onion, garlic and black pepper” I can’t wait to try it out. These flavour mixes would be great for a weeknight meal or to bring camping or to the cottage. A packable addition that is delicious, quick and easy so you can enjoy what’s really important good food with good people. The tips were great on this recipe as well - I especially liked the idea of topping bars with many unusual toppings to satisfy everyone. We will be collecting all the flavours.
Franks RedHot Original
We are never without a bottle of this in my house. I like to use Frank’s Red Hot in not only barbecue sauces and marinades but it is also a phenomenal flavour to add into your dressings and dips for an extra spicy kick or even your soups and chili’s in the cooler months. French’s Ketchup or Mustard
There was also a coupon inside for one bottle of French's Ketchup or Mustard. I opted for the French’s Classic Yellow Mustard which is also a year round must have but gets extra use in the summer time as not only a flavourful topping to sandwiches and burgers but goes great in marinades and dressings for different types of meat and an array of salads. My personal favorite being on pasta or potato salad. I also love the fact that this ingredient is made with 100% Canadian Mustard Seeds.
Which Burger Was Best?
Although both recipes were great and exceeded my expectations the Spicy Burger Recipe was the flavour favorite in my house. Since both were so well recieved it did give me a great idea based on the tips in the previous recipe. Why not pair a fantastic topping bar with many slider varieties with some of these recipes and mixes for a truly impressive and unique bold burger experience.
